Last May 14, 2013, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) spearheaded the celebration of the 2013 CCP Earth Day. Manila Dragons, together with other teams from the Philippine Canoe and Kayak Federation (PCKF), joined in the celebrations by participating in two activities: the 3K Fun Run and the 1K Dragon Boat Parade.

Members of the Manila Dragons assembled early at the CCP-Manila Bay parking lot to begin the day with warm up exercises. At about 6 o’clock, the gun fired to commence the Fun Run. The Run started at the lawn in front of the CCP, went counter-clockwise around the CCP main oval, and ended again at the front lawn. After the Run, the participants enjoyed complimentary light breakfast. At the same time, official ceremonies and some cultural presentations were happening at the CCP main lobby.

At about 9 o’clock, the Dragon Boat teams loaded their respective boats, in preparation for the 1K Dragon Boat parade. The Parade was relatively a light, easy row, but nevertheless, Manila Dragons did not fail to show good form and rhythm to the onlookers by the bay. The dragon boats completed two rounds along Manila Bay. Inspired each time the boats neared the shore, the audience cheered and applauded the different participating dragon boat teams.

By participating in the CCP Earth Day activities, Manila Dragons once again showed their love for the sport and love for the environment.
